Blog #1: Getting to know me - Gracie! (introduction, influencer, social media)

 Hello!

My name is Gracie Davis and I am a current junior at High Point University. I am majoring in Social Media Marketing and minoring in French. On campus I am involved in Greek life (lifetime member of Alpha Chi Omega), I also work for Campus Concierge and I am the secretary of French club. My hometown is Mooresville, North Carolina and I have lived there since I was in preschool. I grew up in a loving household with both of my parents, my younger brother, and my dog. In my free time I love to take pictures, hang out with my friends, watch movies and try new food! I love to travel and experience new things. I am an adrenaline junkie and I don't typically get scared of excitement. One example of this is that I have gone skydiving and swimming with sharks twice!

When I came to college, I was undecided in my major. Since then, I have changed my major 4 times. Now that I am a Social media marketing major (and a junior), I can't change my major again but I know that I made the right choice. I am very active on most social media applications and I love to post fun pictures and updates on social media about what I'm doing. After college I would like to work in social media for a hotel or airline company so that I could potentially travel and get paid to do so. This is a practical choice, but my dream job is to be a social media influencer. It has been a dream of mine for years to be a fashion/lifestyle influencer on platforms like Instagram and TikTok. I work hard to achieve this goal of mine by posting multiple times a week on my feed and my story. Although this job is easier said than done, I am confident that I have what it takes to be a successful influencer. Majoring in Social Media Marketing has helped me to learn a lot about analytics and insights on different platforms. My classes are helpful and oftentimes give tips on how to be successful on social media. In today's age, social media influencers are people who can make their entire living by posting on social apps and partnering with brands. Social media is something that is going to be around forever and the job of an influencer will most likely never go away.

Some people chuckle when I mention that I want to be an influencer. Many people don't know that influencers make their salary from social media. Although the job of an influencer may seem out of reach, it is my dream and I'm not going to give up on it. I think that dreaming of being an influencer is a practical and realistic choice because there are so many people who make their living on social media as influencers. I believe that if I continue to post consistently on Instagram, TikTok, Youtube and other applications I can achieve my dream!
